Paul Hearn was born in ashford, kent in 1968. except for a brief spell at maidstone college of art in 1987, he is self-taught. since 2006 Paul has worked as LustrousChemistry on many diverse projects and continues to create artwork which displays a warm emotional intellect. taking inspiration as much from literature, history and science as he does from shopping malls, corporate architecture and the latest technology, he is inspired to continue with this autodidactic trajectory.
Paul has a long standing love affair with pop music preferring vocalists who cannot sing and compensate for their lacking vocal talent with swagger and bravado. he has a keen interest in what can be loosely termed psychedelia and immerses himself in eclectic, underground and outsider music. although unable to play an instrument himself he has worked closely with a number of musicians on a variety of projects. he is also a regular contributor to www.themixtapeclub.org, an organization dedicated to the art of the mixtape.
Paul is a fan of net art which he believes encourages intangibility and illustrates the ephemeral nature of art in general. he uses his net art site www.fandminusf.com and various other networking sites to promote dialogue with art and artists on an everyday basis.
Paul is very interested in how the general public relate to contemporary art and is compelled to tackle the complexities that surround the promotion of intelligent ideas to a wide audience. he is also a core team member of 2nd Birthday, who strive to increase the impact of contemporary art in and around bournemouth by placing unusual art in unusual places.
Paul is emotionally affected by graphic design and spends as much time as professionally viable in cinemas.
